Who is a Ratepayer? A RATEPAYER is any natural person and any legal person such as a company, trust, cc or body corporate registered in law and capable of suing or being sued in their own name and receiving a bill from the municipality. This includes any payments made in advance such as pre-paid electricity or pre-paid water
KRA exists to serve and promote the interests of all ratepayers without fear nor favour, without discrimination, and with no political bias.
It is our joint responsibility as ratepayers to ensure financially effective administration and to oppose wasteful expenditure of the ratepayers financial contributions entrusted to the Council and the municipal officials who are paid to manage the affairs of our municipality.
It is also our joint responsibility to ensure that local governance is delivered at affordable level and equitably, and to intervene when needed to ensure that all elected and appointed paid representatives serve with capability and due diligence remaining at all times accountable to the ratepayers in terms of the contracted relationship of servant and master.
