KM MOBILE APP ENDING 31.12.21With permission. Dear Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Acting Municipal Manager, Acting Director Corporate Services, Chair Corporate Services, Ward 9 CouncillorWe were appalled to suddenly receive notification that the municipality’s mobile app will be discontinued as of 31 December 2021. Many of us depend heavily on this app to report faults and other problems to the municipality.The only alternative—the complaints desk—is unavailable outside business hours, and is often unreachable during business hours. The municipal app, on the other hand, is always available.It offers residents several other distinct advantages:· Submitting a fault results in the immediate and automatic generation of a text that is sent to the complainant’s phone advising him that the fault has been logged, and that a reference number will be issued once it has been assigned.· Shortly thereafter, the complainant receives a text advising him that the fault has been assigned. The text includes a reference number.· That reference number can be used any time thereafter to track the progress of the complaint.· The complainant is automatically notified by text when the job is completed.· The app also allows the complainant to attach a photo of the fault, so that there can be no doubt as to what is being reported.· And the submission can be accompanied by a pindrop, in order to accurately identify the exact location of the problem. Why would you peremptorily discontinue one of the few interfaces between the municipality and residents that actually works?Our constituents have grown used to relying on the clarity and reliability of the service provided by this app.If you do choose to discontinue it at some point, please ensure that you replace it beforehand with a tried and tested app that offers residents all the same features, as well as the same transparency, ease of use and reliability.Kind regards,Christopher Gould(On behalf of the Ward 9 Committee) ...
